Trevor Noah on Wednesday’s episode of “The Daily Show” called out conservatives who resurrected the idea that President Barack Obama faked tears when talking about the elementary school children shot and killed in Newtown, Connecticut.
During Obama’s announcement about his executive actions on guns on Tuesday, the President paused to wipe away tears after listing major mass shootings of his presidency, ending with Sandy Hook Elementary. He’s repeatedly called that day in December the worst day of his presidency.
In the immediate aftermath, pundits called his tears “not really believable” and suggested he had a “raw onion” at his dais.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Noah said. “Shedding tears when you think of murdered children is not really believable? You know what? There is something here that’s not really believable: The fact that the rest of us have to share the title of human being with you.”

Trevor is so spot on; I like that he, like JS before him, really is passionate about this stuff. Especially as an outsider and someone who grew up in the Apartheid era in SA…the whole part when he said “What really isn’t believable is that the rest of us have to share the title of human-being with you” was great because you can tell he meant it and I can tell he sees right through these people.
If that mashup of conservative pundits is to be the narrative here, they’d have you believe that Obama can fake-cry at will when discussing a massacred 1st grade classroom because he actually doesn’t really care and just needs the political points, and that he doesn’t care about those who have died in other terror attacks.
Modern American conservatism, folks.
Honest to God…it takes a COMEDY show to nail the absolute BS of the ‘news’ channels in covering this ‘issue’. The fact that a person would even QUESTION tears when discussing the slaughter of 20+ children is absolutely heinous.
For me, the hideous thing about this admonition of Mr. Obama by FOX “pundits” is not the FOX “pundits” so much as their CONSUMERS.
Their viewers.
None of these video-parasites would have said a word on this theme had they not been instructed to do so by FOX “news”. It was an assault worthy of a coordinated infantry-armor attack. And this effort was directed at the viewers of FOX “news” for their consumption. Based on the DEMAND of their viewers for this.
The same viewers who smilingly and courteously fixed my car when I traveled through a Red state last year, remarking to me–in passing–how proud they thought I must be of (fellow “Latinos”) Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
The sad truth is that many of his political opponents and those in the RWNJ media don’t have access to authentic feelings any more. They are so bound up in their angry effort to “win” against “liberalism” that much that is human about them is suppressed. So of course they are cynical when they see the real thing.
