At the close of her Wednesday rally in North Carolina, Hillary Clinton directly responded to remarks that Donald Trump made hours earlier in a speech focused on attacking her qualifications.
“I know Donald hates it when anyone points out how hollow his sales pitch really is,” she said. “I guess my speech yesterday must have gotten under his skin, because right away he lashed out on Twitter with outlandish lies and conspiracy theories and he did the same in his speech today. Now, think about it. He’s going after me personally because he has no answers on the substance.”
She also made pointed reference to her Methodist faith, which Trump questioned in a meeting with evangelical leaders earlier this week.
“All he can do is try to distract us,” Clinton said. “That’s even why he’s attacking my faith.”
In his speech earlier the same day, Trump slammed Clinton as a “world class liar” who has “virtually done nothing right” when it comes to foreign policy. He also went after her record of supporting international trade deals, telling supporters that “she gets rich making you poor.”
“We can’t let Donald Trump bankrupt America the way he bankrupted his casinos,” Clinton responded. “We need to write a new chapter in the American dream, and it can’t be Chapter 11,” she added, reiterating earlier comments about Trump’s record of filing for bankruptcy.
“Donald Trump uses poor people around the world to produce his line of suits and ties,” she said. “It’s no surprise he doesn’t understand these things.”
Sounds good. You don’t want to get into an “Oh yeah?” “Yeah!” “Sez who?” “Sez me!” thing with him and roll around in the mud he finds congenial to his pig nature. Just dismiss him as a prattling fool who’s not even worth answering in any serious way because he’s not making an accusation anyone could take seriously.
The Trumperor has no clothes.
