Chelsea Clinton’s salary as a NBC News special correspondent was $600,000. She later switched to a month-to-month contract for NBC News, according to Politico.

NBC News decided to switch Chelsea Clinton to month-to-month so that the network could quickly cut ties with her if her mother, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, decided to run for president.

Clinton first joined NBC News as a special correspondent in 2011. Her job included doing feature assignments for Brian Williams’ “Rock Center with Brian Williams” before the show was canceled in June 2013. After that she did work for NBC Nightly News.

A Nexis search of news transcripts of NBC News under Chelsea Clinton and “special correspondent” found nine reports that included Clinton’s byline between November 14, 2011 and the end of 2013. The dates were July 3, 2012; July 5, 2012; August 15, 2012; August 16, 2012; October 15, 2012; October 19, 2012; December 28, 2012; June 21, 2013; and March 8, 2013.

NBC News refused to comment.

“We don’t comment on details of existing contracts,” an NBC spokesperson said. “NBC News continues to enjoy a wonderful working relationship with Chelsea, and we are proud of her work.”
