The co-hosts of “The View” on Friday quizzed Ben Carson on his trip home to Florida after the Iowa caucus, which ended up causing a stir when members of Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) campaign wrongly told caucusgoers that Carson was actually suspending his campaign.

Carson said that he and his wife simply wanted a quick break from the campaign trail and that he needed new clothes.

“Is it a crime for us to be able to go home and spend a night together in our own home?” he asked.

Co-host Joy Behar then noted to Carson that he could have bought clothes in Iowa.

Carson then suggested that flying home for a new set of clothes was the financially responsible move.

“Well, also you know, I heard people saying, ‘What’s wrong with Carson? They have clothes in New Hampshire. He can go and buy some more suits and some more shirts,'” Carson said.

“Well, see, that’s not the way I grew up. I grew up to preserve what I have. I don’t just throw something in the garbage and buy a new suit,” he continued. “Maybe some people grew up that way. I don’t, and that’s not the way I would run the government either.

Watch the interview via The Wrap. Carson starts explaining his trip to Florida at the 2:30 mark.

  1. I bought a suit in November and wore it to a wedding. Then I had it dry cleaned. Were there no dry cleaners in Dr Carson’s neighborhood?

  2. The Carson White House will have rooms dedicated to bread wrappers, rubber bands, and balls of twine.

Hotels have washing machines and dryers.

Yes, because a flight to Florida from Iowa costs way less than a few new items of clothing.

And nobody’s saying he had to toss his dirty clothes in the garbage. How was this idiot ever considered a force in this race?

  5. So, Ben was brought up to “preserve what he has,” (in other words, not to be a spendthrift). So instead of sending his clothes to be laundered, he gets on an airplane and flies to Florida, where, presumably he sent his clothes to be laundered. I’m thinking cleaning bills might be more expensive in Florida than in Iowa.

Seriously, this guy has got some brain damage going on. His goofy answers to questions just boggle the mind! And the fact that he thinks people should believe this lame excuse is more proof that he has a serious mental problem.

I also heard he left because he wanted to spend time with his wife, WHO WAS IN IOWA AND WAS SPEAKING ON HIS BEHALF AT A CAUCUS EVENT!!!
