Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina continued her attack on Hillary Clinton’s marriage Friday morning, saying she would have left her husband “long ago” if her “eye candy” husband had done the things Bill Clinton did.

MSNBC contributor Mike Barnicle said Fiorina’s remark that “unlike another woman in this race, I actually love spending time with my husband,” during Thursday night’s undercard debate “struck people as a mean spirited comment” and asked what exactly Fiorina knew about the Clintons’ marriage.

Fiorina responded she has also been the target of rude attacks during the campaign.

“I’ve been called all kinds of things and I’m quite sure there have been things said about me that’s considered mean-spirited,” she said.

“Look, Bill and Hillary have craved power their entire lives. They’re entire lives have been about amassing power. They have used every position they have ever had to use or gain more power,” Fiorina continued. The premise called back to her repeated refusal to give a straight answer when asked in a Thursday night interview if the Clintons have a “real marriage.”

But Sam Stein, a Huffington Post editor, pressed Fiorina on why she insists on attacking another candidate’s personal life.

“What Mike asked you about was a very personal critique you gave to their marriage to Bill Clinton. I want to know…why even go to the point where you’re critiquing her marriage? I don’t understand it,” Stein said.

“Well I guess I would say, you know, if my husband had done some of the things that Bill Clinton had done, I would have left him long ago,” Fiorina answered.
