Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina will launch her campaign for president on May 4, according to The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.
Fiorina won’t announce her candidacy at a physical location, like Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Ted Cruz (R-TX) did. Instead, Fiorina will announce her candidacy online and then hold a conference call with national reporters, the Journal said. It’s a move similar to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign announcement who skipped a staged event and published a video and unveiled her website on a Sunday afternoon earlier this month.
Fiorina has argued that if Clinton were to face a female Republican in the general election, Clinton wouldn’t be able to use a handful of attacks she could use against a male opponent.
Fiorina’s announcement, as it happens, comes on the same day that tea party favorite neurosurgeon Ben Carson plans to announce his candidacy for president in Detroit.
Fiorina’s chief spokeswoman tweeted, and later also told TPM, that she would not confirm the Journal report.
I am not confirming the WSJ story from earlier today. We have no announcement to make.

Polling has shown Fiorina near the bottom of the likely 2016 Republican presidential primary field. A CNN poll released Monday noted that only 2 percent of those surveyed said Fiorina was their first choice to win the nomination and become president.
I am guessing she thinks that the only way the Republicans can win is to run a woman against Hillary, but we know better. I am thinking about making a wager on how many candidates will enter the presidential race on the R side - 30 anyone?
Ok, who cares…she is a big YAWN.
Do it! It will be worth it for the TV ads alone! Who can forget the Demon Sheep ad, or the Barbara Boxer’s head as a blimp ad? All done by the same guy that did the creepy hypnotic swirly cloud, “I am not a witch” ad for Christine O’Donnell. His ads make the dada-ist in me stand up and take notice. Brilliant really.
On May 4, we will finally hear what a tree falling in a forest when nobody is there to hear it, sounds like.
She did such a terrific job of running for governor of CA (and losing), why not go for the presidency (and lose)? Should be a fun circus.
