After cancelling several shows amid snowballing sexual assault allegations, Bill Cosby returned to the stage on Thursday and reportedly joked to a female audience member to “be careful about drinking around me.”
At his second show since emerging from the shadows, Cosby asked an audience member in London, Ontario why she had gotten up from her seat to leave, the Canadian paper the National Post reported.
The woman said was going to the lobby to get a drink, according to the newspaper.
“You have to be careful about drinking around me,” Cosby is quoted as saying. The audience reportedly let out an “ooo” and began applauding the comedian.
Later on, two men were removed from the theater for heckling Cosby, the Post reported. “We don’t love you, Bill!” one of them shouted.
“You are a rapist. I’m being ejected because you are a rapist,” the man reportedly said as he was escorted out by security.
Cosby released this statement about the hecklers after the show:
Dear Fans: One outburst but over 2600 loyal, patient and courageous fans enjoyed the most wonderful medicine that exist for human-kind. Laughter. I thank you, the theatre staff (Budweiser Gardens), the event organizers and the London, ON Community for your continued honor and support. I’m Far From Finished.
Keep it classy, Bill…
Any venue that books Cosby deserves all the trouble it gets.
I think that the woman should take Cosby’s warning seriously.
I have the same question about why ANY woman would go see Cosby as why ANY woman would vote republicans. I can not imagine!!
Psychological “tell” there: if he weren’t basically guilty of the serial crime of which he’s been accused, he wouldn’t joke about it. The brazen nature of the “joke” itself reveals the mind that births the crime.
