Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) holds a solid nine-point lead, 43-34, over Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-FL) in the U.S. Senate race in Florida, according to a Suffolk University poll.

The third party candidates trailed far behind, with Libertarian Paul Stanton at 2 percent, and non-party candidates Basil Dalack, Tom Khoury, Steven Machat and Bruce Nathan all polling at 0 percent.

When Suffolk polled the Senate race before Florida’s August primary, Rubio held a 13-point lead over Murphy, 46-33.

The Suffolk University poll was conducted via live telephone interview from Sept. 19-21 among 500 likely Florida voters, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.

  1. I live in Florida and all I see are negative ads against Murphy, and not too many Murphy ads. It’s a shame that the people of Florida want someone who doesn’t want to to be a Senator or want to show up for work.

  2. Or someone who, when he can be arsed to show up, denies/obfuscates about the most consequential problem facing a low-lying, coastal state like Florida.

  3. Wow, that’s pitiful. Rubio has provided a huge bucket of ammunition to use against himself with regard to not wanting the job, hardly showing up, being utterly ineffectual as a senator. If even with his public statements and record, floridians still want this guy… it doesn’t speak well of them at all. I get that Murphy is far from great, but wow.
