A poll released on Tuesday by Public Policy Polling showed the Democratic challenger trailing by just four points behind Idaho Gov. Butch Otter (R).
The poll showed Otter received 39 percent compared to Democratic challenger A.J. Balukoff’s 35 percent, while four other candidates received a combined 12 percent.
Other pollsters, including Rasmussen Reports, had previously shown Otter with support from at least 50 percent of voters. But PPP’s was the first to include more than two candidates.
The automated poll of 522 likely voters was conducted from Oct. 9 through Oct. 12. The poll had a margin of error of 4.3 percent.
The TPM PollTracker average on Wednesday showed Otter ahead by 4 percent.
What’s happened since the end of May to cause Otter to have an eleven point drop?
Sorry, but “just” four points when you’re three weeks out is still a large deficit, especially when you’re in a heavily Republican-leaning state.
Otter’s everything Idahoans love: A funny name, rich, a guy and most importantly, blindingly white and Protestant.
