Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) holds a four-point lead over Democratic challenger Deborah Ross in a Suffolk University poll, retaining the lead in the North Carolina Senate he held last month.
The U.S. Senate election in North Carolina has been closely followed as a crucial race in Democrats’ quest to regain the Senate.
Burr leads the former Democratic state representative by four points, 40-36, with Libertarian candidate Sean Haugh following at 6 percent.
The incumbent’s four-point lead remains unchanged from when Suffolk University polled likely North Carolina voters in early September. In that poll, Burr led Ross, 41-37, with Haugh at 4 percent.
The Suffolk University poll was conducted Oct. 10-12, surveying 500 likely North Carolina voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.
TPM’s PollTracker Average for the U.S. Senate election in North Carolina shows Burr leading Ross, 50.6 to 46.2.
In hindsight, this may not have been the best year to run an ACLU attorney for senate.
