Democrat Russ Feingold holds an eight-point lead over incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) in a new Monmouth University poll of the U.S. Senate race in Wisconsin.

Feingold leads the poll, 52-44, with Libertarian Phil Anderson polling behind at 2 percent.

Feingold, a former Senator unseated by Johnson in the 2010 U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin, held a 13-point lead in the previous Monmouth poll of the race, conducted at the end of August.

The Monmouth University poll was conducted Oct. 15-18 via live telephone interview among 403 likely Wisconsin voters, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.

TPM’s PollTracker Average for the U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin shows Feingold leading Johnson, 52 to 43.7.
