The Wall Street Journal confirmed what has long been speculated about how The National Enquirer was able to obtain salacious text messages between Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his girlfriend, television reporter Lauren Sanchez: Sanchez’s brother sold them to the tabloid.

American Media LLC, which owns the National Enquirer, reportedly paid Michael Sanchez $200,000 upfront for the secret texts between Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, an affair that reportedly ended his 25-year marriage. After the photos and texts were published, Bezos launched a private investigation into how the tabloid was able to obtain his text messages, a move that — given AMI Chief Executive David Pecker’s relationship with President Trump — Bezos thinks we political.

Michael Sanchez, a talent manager, has reportedly been a longtime source to the tabloid, people familiar with the matter told the WSJ.

  3. Wonder how the brother got access to her texts? I suspect there might now be a slight rift in that family.

  5. I hope that the National Enquirer gets it from both ends --criminal and civil charges. Bezos can keep them in civil court until they are drained dry and some jail time would be the icing on the cake.
