President Trump is reportedly still searching for someone to take on the role as his administration’s immigration czar and he may be courting the former acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement to do it, Politico Playbook reported.
Tom Homan, known for helping lead the Trump administration’s campaign against MS-13 gang members when he was acting head of ICE and regular Fox News contributor, has recently been in contact with the White House. Homan told Politico that he was only giving aides advise on how to shape the position.
Homan demurred when Politico reporter Anita Kumar asked if he’d take the position. He said he was unsure because he’s “enjoying retirement too much.”
Trump’s reportedly been interested in creating the “czar” position to help coordinate immigration policy across multiple agencies since at least the beginning of April, around the time when he renewed threats to close the southern border.
He wants his own czar around for days when he can’t get hold of Putin.
King Trump is aware that “czar” is just a metaphor, isn’t he?
Maybe Homan can be given a tour of recently expanded KinderStalags so he can see firsthand how much fun he’s missing. Perhaps even throw in a few rounds of golf, reminding him that golf spelled backwards is “flog.”
No guarantee, I would say. Trump probably thinks the title Czar will give the person holding it absolute power over the subject matter under his rule.
