President Donald Trump on Monday called for his former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, to “serve a full and complete sentence.”

Trump listed several of the crimes to which Cohen has pleaded guilty, though he misleadingly claimed that the counts were “unrelated to Trump.”

Two of the counts to which Cohen initially pleaded guilty, and the additional count to which he pleaded guilty last week, are directly related to Trump.

Those three counts cover two campaign finance violations related to the hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, and Cohen’s admission last week that he lied to Congress about the Trump Organization’s continued efforts to pursue a project in Moscow well into the 2016 presidential campaign.

In fact, in a sentencing memorandum from Cohen’s attorneys filed Friday, they linked the three counts to Trump, referred to as “Client-1.”

“We address the campaign finance and false statements allegations together because both arose from Michael’s fierce loyalty to Client-1. In each case, the conduct was intended to benefit Client-1, in accordance with Client-1’s directives,” Cohen’s lawyers wrote.
