Parts of the migrant caravan have been arriving to Tijuana after traveling for more than a month through Central America and Mexico to reach the U.S. border. WASHINGTON (AP) — The military says about 300 troops who had been deployed in south Texas and Arizona as part of a border security mission have been moved to California for similar work.

In a statement Monday, U.S. Northern Command says the 300 include military police and engineering and logistics troops. They were moved to California over the past several days.

The total number of active-duty troops now involved in the border mission, which began in late October, has dropped to about 5,600, according to Northern Command. Last Wednesday, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the number was 5,764, and officials had previously said it was between 5,800 and 5,900.

The military’s role is limited largely to erecting barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border and providing transportation and logistical support to Customs and Border Protection.

  1. They’re already violating the Posse Comitatus Act by flying the helicopters…maybe by pulling tear gas triggers as well. Why is the “news” not talking about that?

  2. Looks like this may be Trump’s first diversion from the Mueller investigation. If the media would tell the truth, state the facts, about these actions, they’d be stopped immediately. But then no exciting footage of US soldiers attacking starving refugees.

  4. As I said yesterday, Trump wanted a fiasco and now he’s created a fiasco. And when someone dies then it won’t be his fault, no siree not his fault at all.

  5. They should be named “F-Troop” in honor of their ignominious Tweeter-in-Chief…
