The United States Capitol went into lockdown soon after hundreds of Trump supporters barnstormed on the day the joint session of Congress is set to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

After Trump delivered an angry and grievance-filled speech to supporters, mayhem broke out as Trump disciples clashed with police and gun shots were heard inside the chamber.

The House and Senate were forced to recess shortly after the chaos unfolded. Trump encouraged supporters to march to the Capitol and demonstrate against the certification of Biden’s electoral victory.

Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have reportedly been evacuated from the Capitol and taken to a secure location.

See photos below of the chaotic scene:

How compromised is the Capitol Hill police force?
Really stunning that these rioters even broached the grounds, much less occupy the inner chambers and offices.
