Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who is currently rankling his fellow Republicans by holding up judicial nominees to force a vote on a bill to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller, expressed his disbelief Friday that his GOP colleagues could be so “sanguine” about the future of Mueller and his investigation.
“I don’t know how we can be so sanguine about what’s going on over at the Department of Justice in terms of the Mueller probe,” Flake said. “It’s important to protect it.”
So far, Flake has frozen the process for 21 judicial nominees, including controversial nominee Thomas Farr. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) seems to be showing no signs of folding to the retiring senator’s demands.

Sanguine? Nah, More like abject terror at what’s coming?
Think about it a bit longer Sen Flake and I think you’ll figure it out yourself.
Even when he pretends to not pretend, he’s pretending.
Mitch knows it won’t matter in a few weeks. He’ll have the majority that the Kochs and Adelsons bought him. And Flake knows it, too. This is just PR for Flake’s future, and the comic part is that he’s too afraid to come any closer to flirting with decency. This is the closest thing to a spine that Flake can summon, practically on his way out the door.
Gah. I’d like to like this guy, because he playacts constrained virtue that effectively. It’s more attractive than the straightforwardly rank hypocrisy that all the others wallow in, if you had to choose. But it’s still pretending. This innocent-seeming pretending not to know why they do what they do is a different form of fakery and annoying in its own right. There’s an elephant in the room, Jeff, and the thing with elephants is everyone knows when they’re in a damn room, fuck. Gimme a break and just go home. You’ve not-done enough. The party will get real when it has no other choice, and not before.
Great minds again, although bravo for the brevity.
