Connecticut’s ’10 Election: Battle At Sea?

March 16, 2010 9:34 a.m.

Connecticut voters will have their pick of wealthy candidates in this year’s statewide elections. How to tell them apart? By their boats, of course. The Stamford Advocate reports four Senate and gubernatorial candidates own nautical vessels:

Linda McMahon and her husband own a 47-foot yacht, the “Sexy Bitch” (really). According to the Advocate, Vince McMahon keeps the “Sexy Bitch” docked in Boca Raton, Florida.

While the “Sexy Bitch” would be the flagship of most political fleets, it sinks when compared to GOP gubernatorial hopeful Tom Foley’s prize: “Odalisque,” a 100-foot ship he keeps in the Marshall Islands. (Bonus trivia: An odalisque was a female slave in Ottoman Turkey.)

Meanwhile, an order of magnitude or two down from the “Sexy Bitch” and “Odalisque,” Daniel Malloy, Democrat running for Governor, has a 28-foot powerboat. Finally, Rob Simmons, a Republican running for Senate, owns a J-22 sailboat.

Ned Lamont, Democrat running for Governor, is apparently boat-less. But you can view an aerial photograph of his Greenwich, CT mansion here. He must be a landlubber.
