Former FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday said Attorney General Bill Barr “deserves the benefit of the doubt” when it comes to the release of the redacted Mueller report.
In an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Comey said Democrats’ concerns about Barr over-redacting special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report on Russian election meddling and related matters were “reasonable,” but that “our attorney general deserves the benefit of the doubt.”
“Give him a chance to show us what he feels like he can’t show us,” Comey said.
Mueller, Comey added, likely “wrote the report with an eye towards it being public some day, so I can’t imagine a lot needs to be cut out of it.”
“But let’s wait and see,” he said. “The attorney general deserves that chance.”
Barr, Comey said later in the interview, is “an institutionalist” who “loves the Department of Justice.”
“The only thing he has to lose, at this point in his career,” Comey said, “is his reputation.”

Again with the bothsiderism, Jim?
Bucking for a job at AP?
I’d only go along with your thoughts IF Mr. Mueller agreed that the Barr redactions were justified for critical national secuirty interests or to protect info on the on-going Trump investigations from spoiling those eventual prosecutions.
“Unlike our Secretary of State.”
No no no motherfucking no. I’ve said it before and cant stress enough…they are ALL well past benefit of the doubt.
Hasn’t this asshole done enough damage? Go away, Comey!
