Stephen Colbert admitted on Thursday that all the political coverage leading up to this week has been “bullshit.” But now that Labor Day has passed — when, Colbert said, we trade our white pants for white candidates — every bit of coverage is “crucial, life-or-death stuff.”
So, begrudgingly, Colbert did what he said most Americans would find shameful: he watched the Republican presidential debate on MSNBC.
“Of course, I didn’t look directly at the screen,” he said. “Like the solar eclipse, I watched through a pin hole in a piece of cardboard.”
What did Colbert think? Well, suffice it to say, Colbert’s a big fan of Herman Cain’s idea for a “Chilean model.”
