The details of former Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi’s final moments are still sketchy. Several graphic images emerged Thursday, some showing a bloodied Qaddafi appearing to be alive in rebel hands, others showing him apparently dead in the street.

In short, it’s unclear exactly how Qaddafi was killed. His burial is being postponed until the circumstances of his death can be further investigated, the AP reports.

But that didn’t stop CNN from constructing a nifty animation of the events, depicting Libya’s NTC fighters wearing white turbans, firing among dilapidated buildings. Of course, this is standard cable news fare. But images out of Libya yesterday showed people in t-shirts and baseball caps celebrating. Hey, even the New York Post got that one right.

Libyan officials, as CNN and others report, say Qaddafi was killed unintentionally in a firefight. “So the official word from the NTC doesn’t exactly jive with what we see with our eyes and some of the images in the video,” CNN Pentagon correspondent Chris Lawrence said.

Not unlike a certain news animation, don’t you think?
