Ex-Bush Official Scott Bloch Will Stay Out of Jail Pending Appeal

Scott Bloch, the former Bush administration official who was sentenced to a month in prison for contempt of Congress in connection with his use of ‘Geeks On Call’ to scrub his government computer, can remain free pending an appeal, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Mike Scarcella of the National Law Journal reports:

Magistrate Judge Deborah Robinson of Washington’s federal trial court said this evening in a ruling (PDF) that the one-month prison sentence is stayed. Bloch, who led the Office of the Special Counsel, pleaded guilty to the charge in April 2010 in Washington federal district court.
