Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki has been chosen as the “designated survivor” for President Obama’s second inaugural swearing-in ceremony, per a White House official. Shinseki will not be attending the ceremonies, and instead will be at a distant, secure, and undisclosed location while the country’s top leaders gather to celebrate Obama’s inauguration.
