The Pentagon on Thursday formally lifted its ban on women in combat roles on the frontlines, Reuters reported.
At an afternoon press conference detailing the new policy, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said that “every citizen who can meet the qualifications of service” should have the opportunity to servve and protect the country.
