U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice told MSNBC on Monday that China and Russia “chose to align themselves” with Syrian President Assad, after the two countries vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on Syria.

Rice said China and Russia will “come to regret” their decision to veto the resolution. The U.S. on Monday closed its embassy in Syria, citing security concerns. “It does not mean we have abandoned the Syrian people,” she said.
