Twitter betrayed ambitions to expand beyond microblogging and become a fuller-fledged search engine on Friday, announcing updates to its own built-in search funciton including autocomplete suggestions for popular terms and a way to filter results from just those accounts that a user already follows. The move comes on the heels of Twitter’s decision to begin enforcing tighter restrictions on use of its content by third-party apps.
