Donald Trump defended Fox News chairman Roger Ailes against allegations of sexual harassment by former anchor Gretchen Carlson in a Thursday interview with the Washington Examiner.

When asked what he thought about the accusations, Trump answered: “I think they are unfounded, just based on what I’ve read. Totally unfounded based on what I’ve read.”

Carlson filed a lawsuit against Ailes last week in which she alleged that she was fired after rebuffing his advances for months. Since then, more women have come forward with accounts of harassment, all of which Ailes has denied.

Trump and Ailes have had a rocky relationship in the past. Trump previously accused Fox host Megyn Kelly of asking “ridiculous” and “unfair” questions.

At the time, Ailes called Trump’s criticism “as unacceptable as it is disturbing,” but later called the candidate to assure him that he would be treated fairly in Fox News coverage.

“He is a great guy,” Trump tweeted in response. “His word is always good!”
