At a rally in Lakeland, Florida on Wednesday afternoon, Trump scoffed at media reports that said he “invaded” Hillary Clinton’s “personal space” at Sunday’s presidential town hall debate.

“I’m standing at my podium by my chair. She walks across the room. She’s standing in front of me, right next to me. The next day I said what did the paper say? He said he invaded her space,” Trump said. “Believe me. The last space that I want to invade is her space.”

After Sunday’s debate, social media users seized on what many called bullying behavior from Trump, who hovered closely behind Hillary Clinton as she spoke about Obamacare while walking around the debate stage.

Later, speaking to the media on her campaign plane, Clinton acknowledged that she sensed Trump standing behind her. “He was very present,” she said.
