Motivated by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s (D) delayed execution of a man on death row, former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) said he will officially launch a gubernatorial bid in the state on Thursday, the Denver Post reported.

Hickenlooper on Wednesday granted a reprieve to Nathan Dunlap, who was convicted in 1996 of killing four employees at a restaurant. For Tancredo, that was all the motivation he needed to challenge Hickenlooper.

“This Dunlap thing is the last straw,” Tancredo said, as quoted by the Post.

Tancredo will make the announcement on conservative host Peter Boyles’ radio show, according to the Post.
