In a cold open “60 Minutes” segment, the Saturday Night Live cast mocked President Obama’s comments on the Islamic State and the recent security breaches at the White House.
“Steve Kroft,” played by Beck Bennett, asked “Obama,” played by Jay Pharoah, if he really did underestimate the threat posed by ISIL.
After responding that he did, Obama shifted the blame elsewhere.
“Obviously my entire administration shares the blame for that, but first, can I throw one particular person under the bus?” he asked, and then named James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence.
Kroft then asked Obama why the U.S. has the brunt of the work for the coalition to combat ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
“That’s just how we roll. We roll slow and deliberately, almost like we have no idea where we’re rolling to. Then someone pushes us. Suddenly, we’re rolling straight downhill into oncoming traffic,” Obama responded.
A Secret Service agent then enters to tell Obama that there’s “a man with a sharpened screwdriver here to see you.”
“It might be time-sensitive as he was running across the front lawn,” the agent said.

Excellent. One has to wonder if Obama is setting up Mr. “Least Untruthful” Clapper as the fall guy.

Yup - and Obama is continuing to embroil the US in a conflict that will grow ever wider, with no end in sight.
EDIT : Link fixed which did not work the first time. It appears you must create the link before using the blockquote tag.
Wasn’t aware the show was still on.
I see it has not become any funnier in the ensuing years.
“Jane, you ignorant slut!” and “Nevermind” were the high points of their years on air.
What are you quoting there?
Edit: Never mind, I found it. Jeremy Scahill from Friday’s broadcast of Democracy Now!
He’s got some good points, but I’m not sure I fully embrace his understanding of the so-called "Islamic world, " for if it were simply us vs. them, ISIS would probably not exist as is. No question that there is longstanding distrust of the US in the middle east, but it’s a pipe dream to pretend that if Obama sat on his hands, the opinion of the US would be magically reversed. That ship has sailed long ago, and it’s disingenuous to suggest otherwise. Not that that’s an excuse to continue destructive policies either. Biden’s recent comments that got him into trouble reveal a deeper understanding of the situation, which is that this is a proxy Syrian civil war. If you think we shouldn’t be involved, I’d say that’s a perfectly valid opinion. But it’s not “the Christian west” vs “the Islamic Middle East” by any stretch. There’s an underlying agenda in that characterization, which is to say “Obama is the same as Bush,” but, please.
When quoting an Op-Ed from Jeremy Scahill, you should really give attribution. Otherwise, it is the theft known as plagiarism.
