FILE - This Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 file photo, shows the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington. The Supreme Court is casting a skeptical eye on voter-approved commissions that draw a state's congressional district boundaries. The justices heard arguments Monday, March 2, 2015 in an appeal from Arizona Republicans who object to the state's independent redistricting commission that voters created to reduce political influence in the process. A decision against the commission also would threaten a similar system in neighboring California and could affect commissions in an additional 11 states. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh, File) MORE LESS

Justice Antonin Scalia will lie in repose at the Supreme Court Friday, NPR is reporting.

On Saturday morning, his funeral will be at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., NPR said, based on anonymous sources close to the Scalia family.

Scalia was among the most prominent Roman Catholics in America. He resided in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington. The bishop of the Catholic diocese of Arlington, Virginia, released a statement over the weekend calling Scalia “deeply rooted in his faith.”

“His presence among us encouraged us to be faithful to our own responsibilities whether familial, religious or vocational. His wisdom brought clarity to issues. His witness to truth enabled us to seek to do the same,” Bishop Paul S. Loverde said in the statement.

The Supreme Court has also draped Scalia’s chair on the bench and its courtroom’s doors in black, per tradition, to memorialize the late justice, who died unexpectedly in Texas over the weekend.
