Mitt Romney raised $11.7 million in April, less than half the $25.7 million President Obama raised last month. As Bloomberg reports, 42 percent of Obama’s haul came in contributions of $200 or less. Romney, on the other hand, raised just 21 percent of his total, or $2.4 million, from small donations.
Though Obama raised more, combined with the money brought in by the parties, Democrats’ and Obama’s edge shrinks to just $3.5 million in April.
Republican fundraising numbers are also padded by money pouring into Republican-leaning super PACs. Restore Our Future, the group supporting Romney, raised $4.6 million in April, down from $8.6 million in March.
