Reuters/Ipsos: Obama Over Romney By Five

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows President Obama up by a five point margin against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney nationally, 48 – 43 as the President closes in on the 50 percent mark. Other potential Republican candidates fare worse, with Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) down by seven and Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich behind by double digits.

The new numbers come after a CBS News survey out Monday night showed Romney up on Obama by two nationally and other races closer. The current TPM Poll Average of a national Obama—Romney matchup shows the President ahead by 1.9 percent.
