Yahoo’s board on Sunday approved a $1.1 billion deal to purchase the blogging platform Tumblr, the New York Times and other outlets reported.
The Times noted that the purchase provides a glimpse of how the struggling Yahoo “plans to reposition itself as the technology industry makes a headlong rush into social media.”
