Maine Senate President Kevin Raye (R), a would-be contender for the Republican nomination in the race to replace retiring Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME), will not run for Senate, according to the Bangor Daily News. Raye will instead continue his run against Rep. Mike Michaud (D-ME) in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District in the 2012 cycle.
