Police said a 23-year-old man in Washington state allegedly shot and wounded a friend who was sneaking around his property on Saturday night to pull a prank, according to television station KIRO.

The 25-year-old man who was wounded had gone to his friend’s home in Puyallup, Washington, along with with another friend to scare him, police spokesman Scott Engle told the television station.

The man at the house called out to the two, who were hiding in the grass, before he allegedly fired his shotgun and hit his friend in the shoulder and chest, according to the report.

The suspected shooter and the other friend put the victim in the car and drove him to the local hospital.

The suspected shooter was arrested and booked for first-degree assault, according to the KIRO report.

  1. “arrested and booked for first-degree assaul”

If convicted, as well he should be, he will lose the right to own a weapon to use on his friends again.

What a doofus! If you cannot see your target and do not warn your target that you have a gun aimed at him, you’re shouldn’t own a gun.

  2. How about instead of going outside to investigate, you pick up the phone and call the police? Why is this not an option? I’d love to know what the stats are of people who were able to successfully defend themselves/their families with a gun vs. those who’ve accidentally shot a friend or family member and those who’ve had their weapon taken from them and used against them.

  3. Im not sure how it can b e assault if you think you are shooting a trespasser who has ignored your orders to stop.

And I am still wondering what is going to happen when one of those nincompoops who dress up as Sasquatch to fool their friends ends up getting killed by gunfire. Murder? Manslaughter? Death by misadventure???

  4. There aren’t any pictures of shotguns that could be used to accompany this story?

  5. Au contraire. It qualifies you to pack heat in a movie theater.
