President Obama said he and his wife, Michelle, are praying for former President Jimmy Carter while he undergoes treatment for cancer that has spread to his brain.

President Carter is as good a man as they come. Michelle and I are praying for him and Rosalynn. We’re all pulling for you, Jimmy.

Carter announced Thursday that he would begin radiation treatment in the afternoon to treat melanoma.

Billy Carter may not have been one of our best presidents, but I’ve always believed him to be one of the best men to ever occupy the office. His goodness, his decency, his modesty are all beyond comparison.
