The new Rasmussen poll of the Wisconsin recall election gives Republican Gov. Scott Walker the lead over the Democratic nominee, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, in the first public survey conducted by any firm since Barrett won his primary on Tuesday.
The numbers: Walker 50%, Barrett 45%. The survey of likely voters was conducted on May 9, the day after the primary, and has a ±4.5% margin of error. There is no previous Rasmussen poll of a Walker-Barrett race for direct comparison.
The TPM Poll Average currently gives Walker a lead of 49.6%-45.7%. The general election will be on June 5.
