Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill is in a dead heat with Rep. Todd Akin in Missouri, according to a new poll. Both candidates’ approval ratings are in deeply negative territory.
McCaskill leads Akin 45 percent to 44 percent, in the new survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling. The survey of 621 likely voters was conducted Aug. 28-29, and has a 3.9 percent margin of error.
McCaskill’s approval rating is 40 percent; her disapproval rating is 55 percent. Akin’s favorable rating is 33 percent; his unfavorable rating is 56 percent.
The PollTracker Average shows Akin at 44.3 percent and McCaskill 44 percent.
