Fox News host Sean Hannity wanted to get to the bottom of Piers Morgan’s apparent “reversal.”
“You now are, like, waking up,” Hannity told Morgan on Monday night, referring to the former CNN host’s recent article that pilloried President Obama as “complacent” and “shameless.”
“It’s like, ‘What is he doing?’ I have felt like that the whole time,” Hannity added.
Hannity’s shock has typified the reaction in conservative media to Morgan’s piece, his first as editor-at-large of the MailOnline.
“Piers Morgan Shocks the World With Sweeping Tell-All About His Feelings on Obama,” read the headline over at IJReview.
The Blaze called Morgan’s column “[s]urprisingly [s]cathing,” while the Daily Caller suggested that the “sky must be falling.”
Yes, Morgan emerged as one of the most vocal champions for new gun laws following the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012. And there was that one time he offered a cringe-inducing description of Obama’s physique. But this wasn’t exactly like Valerie Jarrett denouncing the Affordable Care Act.
Morgan has gone here before.
Following the revelations of of extensive NSA snooping, Morgan suggested that Obama was “worse” than George W. Bush.
Even on gun control, Morgan wasn’t exactly an Obama cheerleader.
All of this is easily retrievable — simply Google “Piers Morgan criticizes Obama” — and can even be found on the same conservative outlets now hyping his latest criticism.
More than a year ago, when Morgan criticized Obama for not giving up his vacations, Breitbart reacted with the same surprise we’re seeing now from right-leaning journalists.
