President Obama sees similarities between the burgeoning Occupy Wall Street movement and the tea party. In an interview with ABC News’ Jake Tapper, Obama said “I understand the frustrations” expressed in the anti-Wall Street protests.
“In some ways, they’re not that different from some of the protests that we saw coming from the Tea Party,“ Obama continued. “Both on the left and the right, I think people feel separated from their government. They feel that their institutions aren’t looking out for them.”
Tapper’s interview is scheduled to air tonight on Nightline at 11:35 p.m. ET.
