President Obama described during an interview for Sunday’s episode of “60 Minutes” how the US is called on to lead “when trouble comes up anywhere in the world.”
“That’s how we roll,” Obama said. “And that’s what makes this America.”
The in-depth interview covered U.S.-Russia relations, the midterm elections and America’s role within the global response to the extremist group Islamic State.
When reporter Steve Kroft noted that “once again” it seemed the U.S. was “leading the operation” with regard to ISIL, Obama said America has always played that role.
“We are the indispensable nation,” the President said. “We have capacity no one else has. Our military is the best in the history of the world. And when trouble comes up anywhere in the world, they don’t call Beijing. They don’t call Moscow. They call us. That’s the deal.”
Obama went on to describe America’s principal involvement in responding to recent crises in the Philippines and Haiti to support his assertion that the U.S. always leads response efforts.

Yes, that’s what we do, but a lot more foresight on your part would be very welcome, Mr. President.
Good or bad that seems to be the case. I love this President. A man of integrity. I am so glad he is our President. Unfortunate for him he constantly has to educate the media
Foresight. Explain that please
It’s because the media isn’t used to having a smart President, and most of the people paying attention to the media aren’t that intelligent. Hence, our media has to “dumb” things down for them, and we end up with people like Chuck Todd complaining that the President hasn’t mentioned Syria after mentioning it four times.
You won’t get any argument from me. Even Steve Kroft who is a decent reporter, he is loving trying to get in his gotcha questions.
