Obama: ‘Anguish Is Still Fresh In Newtown’

Flanked by Mothers Against Violence at an event on gun violence on Thursday, President Obama recalled the school shooting at Newtown, Conn. as a reason why lawmakers should not give up on their effort to reform gun laws.

“The grief from gun violence never goes away, the anguish is still fresh in Newtown,” Obama said at the White House.

“We have moms on this stage whose children were killed as recently as 35 days ago,” he added.
