The National Republican Congressional Committee issued a statement Wednesday hitting Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) for his extremely contentious interview with Sean Hannity.

Ellison sparred with Hannity during a tense interview Tuesday on Fox News, with the progressive lawmaker calling the conservative commentator “immoral” and “the worst excuse for a journalist” he’s ever seen.

Alleigh Marré, a spokesperson for the NRCC, called Ellison’s “juvenile appearance” with Hannity “embarrassing.”

“Congressman Ellison’s juvenile appearance on television last night is embarrassing. Minnesota families deserve a representative that offers commonsense solutions to the Sequester rather than someone who resorts to schoolyard insults and name calling like a child in a sandbox. After voting against two bills that would have avoided the Sequester, it’s clear that Ellison feels his back to the wall.”
