A North Carolina restaurant has sent Texas Gov. Rick Perry two pounds of smoked, cooked meat and a letter in a bid to persuade him to reconsider his position on eastern-style barbecue. During a 1992 visit to North Carolina, Perry compared the state’s version of pulled pork to “road kill.”
