UPDATE: 4:18 PM ET

A shooter who entered a Nashville movie theater armed with a hatchet and gun was killed by a SWAT team on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. Three people have been treated for exposure to pepper spray, which the gunman unleashed in the theater, and one person suffered a superficial wound that may have been caused by the hatchet.

Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron said the gunman, who burst into a screening of “Mad Max: Fury Road,” has been tentatively identified as a 51-year-old local white man. Authorities were looking into the content of two backpacks the suspect brought with him, one of which was left behind in the theater.

This incident came just two weeks after a Louisiana man opened fire at a screening of “Trainwreck” in Lafayette, Louisiana, killing two people and injuring nine.
