Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) is “seriously considering” running for Senate in California.

She announced that she was considering running for outgoing Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-CA) in a Facebook post on Tuesday:

For the past 18 years, I have focused on putting California’s working families first. From immigration reform to affordable health care to funding quality education, I have advocated for policies that give all families the same access to the American Dream. Californians deserve a strong voice in Washington and I have never been afraid to speak up, which is why I am seriously considering running for the United States Senate in 2016.

If Sanchez did decide to run, she would join a field including the formidable Attorney General Kamala Harris (D), who announced her candidacy earlier on Tuesday. Billionaire and environmentalist Tom Steyer has also signaled interest in running for Boxer’s seat.

  1. Sorry, but…so what. Is this someone I should care about running? My search on here for her name didn’t reveal much of anything. Unless her dancing to “Call Me Maybe” should be something I think qualifies her for the US Senate?

  2. she can use this as a launch pad to replace Feinstein … two Boxers to cover CA somewhat unlikely

  3. She did the nation a great service in getting rid of “B-1 Bob” Dornan back in '96…but since then, she’s been a fairly conservative Democrat, which is no surprise since she represents the very middle of Orange County.

I don’t see her candidacy going very far.

  4. Agree. She’ll be DOA and likely doing this to increase her profile.
