A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the government’s case against four senior citizen militia members in Alabama charged with plotting an attack on the U.S. should be considered “complex” and not subject to regular scheduling procedures, according to court documents.

The ruling gives federal prosecutors and defense attorneys more time to review evidence in the case.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Susan Cole denied bond for the foursome in order to “reasonably assure the safety of the community.”
