Johnson Joins Collins And Manchin In Calling For Ford, Kavanaugh To Testify

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said that professor Christine Blasey Ford is “willing to come forward and tell her story and we should listen to her,” regarding her sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

He told Milwaukee radio station WTMJ Monday that it would be “appropriate” for the committee to listen to both Ford and Kavanaugh, and that he’s “not really sure where this goes from here.”

Johnson does not sit on the committee, but his desire to hear the two testify instead of ignoring the allegation and pushing ahead with the confirmation vote is notable, as he is usually a safe Republican vote.

Anyone else get the feeling that Ron “Bagga hammers” Johnson has reached the point where he’s just flipping coins to decide what to do and say?

It’s like Two-Face but without the personality or exciting backstory.

  2. Is this purely theater or do these senators smell blood?

Grassley making noises about this is a very encouraging sign…

  3. OT – At 92, John Dingell has suffered a heart attack…but thank G-d he’s alive and in recovery, and best of all, he’s still cracking jokes.

Get well soon, John. We need your voice and sense of humor to get through these trying times.

  4. If Ron Johnson is anywhere NEAR doing the decent thing…then we KNOW something sneaky is going on. Roy Blunt? Grassley? Johnson?

I don’t know what else it could be except…they think somehow they can hang onto the Senate if they act like they care. I think they know there is enough visibility now on Kavanaugh and this nom…that if they keep pushing a sex violator right before an election…whether they get him thru or not they are going to sign their own DC. Yes it is Job #1 to pack a dirty GOP operative on the SC. But if it means they lose the Senate or their own seat, they are going to do what it takes to make themselves look good.

  5. I can just see Orrin Hatch, neck all purple with rage, calling or confronting Johnson and threatening him with expulsion from the Old White Male Neanderthal Club, a racially segregated private establishment in Washington D.C. where arterosclerotic Right Wingers go and smoke malodorous cigars after dinner (to mask their digestive processes) and complain about how the world ain’t like it used to be.
