Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will travel to Mississippi on Sunday to campaign for incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS), The Hill reported.
With a few days left before the runoff election, several establishment GOP figures have come out in support of Cochran as he attempts to fight off aggressive opposition from tea party state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R). McDaniel has received support from McCain’s 2008 running mate, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R).
“Chris McDaniel is a proven conservative fighter with undeniably impressive, tangible and needed results,” Palin wrote Tuesday on her Facebook page. “He’s gone above and beyond in his capacity as a citizen, attorney, and citizen legislator to stop the Obama agenda.”
